Jarrod Washburn goes deep into another start, at least according to Jim Riggleman, good (though other teams may be less than convinced that losing Wednesday's finale to the Twins was worth a B-level prospect.
Brandon Morrow throws 34 pitches, no walks, no runs, a double to the Triple A home run leader and he's one step closer to starting for the M's, good.
Raul Ibanez hits a walk-off HR, Seattle beats the Rays, bad, well, maybe good.
Here's why: Ibanez should have been traded at the July deadline but let's be willing to accept that maybe no team was offering enough. So, OK, Raul can help teach the young guys, be a good influence, which he can do falling out of bed. Then he goes on a tear, 12-for-28, grand slam, all-time Safeco dinger leader, six ribbies in an inning or something like that, then clubbing Tampa Bay Thursday.
Bad.
Bad because now Riggleman (who, frankly, might deserve a whole season if he can figure out how a dead baseball team can throws fits two series in a row vs. the AL Central and AL East leaders...now if he can just do that with the AL West leaders) will play Ibanez as the hot hand in the outfield rotation.
But, oh wait, maybe good because Ibanez gets traded--to the Rays, he's from Miami, or the Marlins or anywhere he can win, a desire he made clear when asked about trades this summer.
So, OK, good. Maybe the M's can get something worthwhile for the guy. As previously discussed here, just do it with respect. Ibanez has crossed into Ultimate Mariner territory.
